This earth is temporary and, if we belong to Christ, it is not our home. This can be a source of excitement, hope, motivation, or trepidation. Meditating on the return of Jesus Christ and the life after this one can cause us to live heaven-ward not earth-bound. Our priorities can shift from personal agendas to our Father's business when we frequently and intentionally consider our lives in light of eternity.
Are you living as though you understand that this earth is not our final destination, or are you storing up treasures on earth that have no eternal value?
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live a future-proofed life as you Write the Scriptures this week:
Isaiah 65:17
"For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind."
Revelation 21:5
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
Hebrews 11:15-16
If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
2 Peter 3:13
But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
1 John 2:17
And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
John 14:2-3
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
